How to "Port" a telephone number (i.e. Landline, Ooma, Vonage) to Google Voice Service

You will need to verify if that Landline telephone number can be “Transfer” over to become a mobile number first, then “Port” over to your Google Voice account (xxx@gmail.com).  Google Voice service will only “Port” that Landline telephone number over to Google Voice service if that Landline telephone number is turned into a mobile number (i.e. T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, SPRINT, others), with successful calls in/out as a physical mobile phone.  So, to review steps and ensure that Landline telephone number can be “Transfer” over, use the following T-Mobile page to verify:  https://www.t-mobile.com/resources/keep-your-number

(Please note that we only use this T-Mobile link for verification purposes, to determine if a telephone number can be "Transfer".  You can check with other carriers for their specific “Transfer/Port” steps also).

Most customers use a low-cost SIM card (by AT&T, Verizon, or others) along with an unlocked cell phone,  prepaid cell phone, or a Tracfone at for $10 to $13 to “Transfer” that Landline telephone number over then further “Port” over to Google Voice service (xxx@gmail.com).
