Headsets for Emergency Dispatchers
Do you have headsets for use with Emergency Dispatch systems (such as those found at Police Departments) that can toggle between radio and telephone?
Plantronics makes a number of products for emergency dispatchers that are compatible with nearly every major radio console. These consoles are fitted with jackboxes that are configured for either "4 wire" or "6 wire" operation. Please note that a headset, being a basic audio input/output device, cannot actually perform the toggling between the radio and the telephone. This functionality must be built into the console. 4 Wire Jackbox Use Plantronics model SHS1963-01 with any of our commercial-grade headsets with a quick disconnect (such as the Encore, SupraPlus, DuoSet, or DuoPro family). The SHS 1963 has no receiver amplification. If receiver amplification is required, then use Plantronics model P10. If wireless functionality is required, then any of the Plantronics CS products connected to a modular to plug prong adapter (part number 18709-01; sold by our distributors) will work. Please note that, with 4 wire systems, the user will need to use either a foot pedal or the button on the console to toggle between the radio and telephone. 6 Wire Jackbox Use Plantronics model SHS1890 (comes in three different cord lengths) with any of our commercial-grade headsets with a quick disconnect (such as the Encore, SupraPlus, DuoSet, or DuoPro family). The SHS1890 is fitted with a Push-To-Talk (PTT) button that will send an external key signal to the host console. Providing that the host console is configured properly, this external key will allow the user to toggle between the radio and the telephone. If cordless functionality is required, then we suggest the CA12CD and any headset with quick disconnect. Custom Headset Interfaces Many facilities also have mobile, remote, desk set and base station two-way radios. These systems frequently require custom headset interfaces that differ from those found on the standard dispatch consoles. RadioMate Corporation supplies custom interfaces for these applications.
